Type CO Oil Seals
DIN 3761 Type CO shaft seals are characterized by a fully metallic structure, similar to Types C and CS, but unlike these, Type CO lacks a reinforcing spring in the sealing lip. This configuration reduces friction and facilitates operation in applications where pressure and speed requirements are low, and dynamic sealing is not critical.
The springless design allows for a softer contact pressure on the shaft, making it suitable for environments with constant lubrication, low rotational speeds, or intermittent operation, such as in small electric motors, actuators, protective housings, or auxiliary systems. Its exposed metal structure ensures a secure fit in precisely machined housings with tight tolerances.
Type CO is a cost-effective solution when high-performance sealing is not required, but basic sealing capability and a robust structure are still necessary. It does not include a dust lip, so its use should be limited to protected systems or relatively clean environments.
This type of seal is available in various diameters and sealing materials (such as NBR, FKM, among others), allowing it to be adapted to different temperature conditions, chemical compatibility requirements, or service life expectations.
