Type C Oil Seals

DIN 3761 Type C shaft seals are defined by a fully metallic structure, without an external elastomer coating, making them a robust option for high-precision applications where the housing features exact dimensions and finely machined surfaces with tight tolerances. This rigid design ensures secure press-fit installation and excellent dimensional stability under demanding mechanical conditions.

Type C incorporates a primary sealing lip with a reinforcing spring, ensuring constant pressure against the shaft and effective lubricant retention, even under moderate pressure or high rotational speeds. However, it does not include a dust lip, so its use is recommended in clean environments or sealed systems where the ingress of external contaminants is not a significant concern.

This type of seal is particularly well-suited for industrial equipment, precision motors, compressors, and transmissions, where structural rigidity and seal durability under severe thermal or dynamic conditions are critical. It can also be used in applications where the outer elastomer coating could be damaged or degraded by chemical agents or extreme temperatures.
