TYPE AP OIL SEALS

DIN 3760 Type AP oil seals are designed for high-pressure applications, offering superior performance compared to standard oil seals thanks to their reinforced design and enhanced sealing capability under demanding conditions. They are equipped with a main spring-loaded sealing lip and, in many cases, include additional structural components that allow them to withstand pressures of up to 10 bar or more, depending on the configuration and material.

The body of the AP oil seal can be fully metallic or partially elastomer-coated, depending on the variant. These include the standard (SCN), its rubber-reinforced version (SFN), with a grooved outer lining (SGN), or with a metal outer shell and an internal rubber lining (SZN), among others. Its design ensures reliable contact with the shaft, even under conditions of high rotation speed and moderate to elevated temperatures, without compromising the system’s sealing integrity. Additionally, some models incorporate hydrodynamic grooves on the sealing lip with a specific direction of rotation: ‘L’ for left-hand rotation, ‘R’ for right-hand rotation, and ‘W’ for bidirectional applications.

They are particularly suitable for hydraulic systems, gear reducers, compressors, oil pumps, and industrial machinery, where a balance between pressure capacity, durability, and ease of installation is required. The most common materials include NBR, HNBR, and FKM, selected based on the type of fluid, working temperature, and environmental conditions.
