Spiral rings

OSN-ANILLOS EN ESPIRAL

Spiral retaining rings, also known as spiral rings, are axial fasteners designed to fit into machined grooves on shafts or housings to retain components and prevent their axial displacement. Unlike conventional snap rings (such as DIN 471 or 472), spiral retaining rings do not have lug holes for assembly; instead, they are formed from flat wire coiled helically to fit perfectly into the groove.

Their continuous design eliminates the lugs and concentrated stress points typical of conventional snap rings, providing uniform load distribution, higher fatigue resistance, and a better overall aesthetic of the assembly. Furthermore, this protrusion-free profile saves radial space and facilitates their use in applications where clearance is limited or where a cleaner assembly flow is required.

They can be manufactured with a single turn or with multiple turns (multi-turn), which increases their load capacity and stability. They are commonly produced in carbon spring steel, stainless steel, or special materials for applications with strict corrosion or extreme temperature resistance requirements.

Spiral retaining rings are used in aerospace, automotive engineering, industrial machinery, medical devices, transmission systems, bearings, and precision applications, where reliability, mechanical strength, and good surface finish are key requirements.

To guarantee optimum performance, it is essential to select the appropriate spiral type, material, and number of turns suitable for the load and working environment, allowing us to adapt to the specific requirements of each client and sector. We have standard solutions in stock and also offer custom manufacturing, always ensuring the quality, traceability, and international compatibility that characterize all OSN products.
