TYPE CS OIL SEALS

DIN 3761 Type CS oil seals combine the main characteristics of Type C (rigid metal structure) with an additional dust lips, providing a dual sealing function: an internal barrier against lubricant leakage and an external barrier against the ingress of particles, dust, or moisture. This design makes them a robust solution for industrial environments with greater exposure to contaminants. They are commonly used in industrial engines, gearboxes, pumps, and agricultural or construction machinery, where mechanical resistance and protection against external agents are key requirements.

Their fully metallic structure ensures high dimensional stability, allowing for installation in housings with high geometric precision and a fine surface finish, typical of precision machinery or critical industrial applications. Thanks to their rigidity, Type CS is ideal for operating conditions with high rotation speeds, moderate pressures, or elevated temperatures, where elastomer-coated seals might not offer the same long-term performance.

The additional springless dust lip acts as a first protective barrier, while the main spring-loaded lip guarantees constant sealing pressure against the shaft, helping to effectively retain lubricants such as oils or greases. This configuration improves the overall efficiency of the sealing system, extending the service life of internal components.

Type CS oil seals are available in various material configurations and finishes, including standard (TA), with an outer coating (TAC), or with a special anti-corrosion treatment (TA-H). Additionally, some models incorporate hydrodynamic grooves on the sealing lip with a specific direction of rotation: ‘L’ for left-hand rotation, ‘R’ for right-hand rotation, and ‘W’ for bidirectional applications.
