Snap rings, also known as safety rings, are mechanical axial fastening components designed to hold parts in position within an assembly, preventing axial movement on shafts or in housings.
They are fitted into machined grooves, according to the function required in each assembly:
On a shaft, to limit outward movement
In a housing, to limit inward movement
In both cases they act as safety stops for parts such as bearings, gears, bushes, pulleys or toothed wheels.
