Piston seal UOB

Description

The UOB is a two-piece single-acting piston seal. An asymmetrical polyurethane sealing profile, with venting channels for pressure entry, and a POM thermoplastic back-up ring that supports it. The channels prevent the build-up of hydrodynamic pressure and the back-up ring stops the profile from extruding, so the UOB works with a thin oil film and withstands high pressures.

Assembly

Installation is straightforward in closed grooves. Chamfer the edges and clean the groove before fitting. It is very important that the installation tools are made of soft material without sharp edges, and the seal must not be dragged over sharp edges or threads. Lubricate the seal with the system oil before installation.

Materials

The sealing profile is made of 90 to 95 Shore A polyurethane and the back-up ring of 60 Shore D POM. This combines a material with high mechanical and wear resistance with a thermoplastic of high strength and a low friction coefficient. They therefore withstand mineral oils to DIN 51524 and HFA, HFB and HFC fire-resistant fluids, and the dimensional stability of the assembly is maintained under pressure and side loads.
