OSN rod seals are designed to prevent hydraulic fluid leaking out of the cylinder, guaranteeing reliable sealing even under severe conditions of pressure, speed and temperature. Their geometry is optimised exclusively to prevent outward leakage, control the oil film better and withstand the loads generated by rod movement. Many specific profiles also feature asymmetrical lips, textile reinforcement, anti-extrusion rings or low-friction designs that improve sealing, reduce tearing and extend the service life of the system. Symmetrical seals remain an excellent solution when the aim is to simplify stock and use a single reference for both piston and rod but, for the same material and working conditions, a seal designed specifically for the rod normally delivers better performance in that role.

Our rod seals are available in a variety of materials to suit any working condition. Polyurethane (PU) offers excellent resistance to wear, abrasion and extrusion, making it one of the most widely used options in dynamic applications. NBR (nitrile rubber) stands out for its compatibility with hydraulic oils and its excellent cost-performance ratio. For high-performance applications PTFE is also available, characterised by its very low coefficient of friction and high chemical resistance. We also offer solutions in TPE, POM and materials reinforced with technical fabric, which provide greater mechanical strength and dimensional stability in high-load, high-pressure applications.
