Rod seal UIR7

Description

The UIR7 is a single-acting, U-shaped hydraulic rod seal, optimised for low friction, with an interference fit on the outer diameter. Its cascading sealing edges are pressure-activated, significantly reducing static and dynamic friction in hydraulic cylinders and improving system efficiency. It is intended for mobile and stationary hydraulics with high demands regarding friction and sliding behaviour, with dimensions conforming to the ISO 5597 standard.

Assembly

Provide an axial clearance in the housing. Chamfer the edges and do not pull the seal over sharp edges during installation so as not to damage the lips. It can normally be snapped into closed grooves, and in restricted access locations a mounting tool may be required. Clean the installation space carefully before fitting.

Materials

Available in different compounds depending on the fluid and the working temperature: NBR, EPDM, FKM, FFKM, NR, CR and VMQ in hardnesses between 70 and 90 Shore A, and PTFE in a hardness of 60 Shore D. It offers good performance against hydraulic oils to DIN 51524 parts 1 to 3, mineral-based lubricating oils and greases, and HFA, HFB and HFC fire-resistant hydraulic fluids to VDMA 24317.
