Rod seal USM

Description

The USM is a heavy-duty single-acting hydraulic rod seal set, consisting of an elastomer sealing ring, a fabric-reinforced extrusion ring and a thermoplastic back-up ring. The elastomer ring seals against high and varying pressures, and the extrusion and back-up rings extend the service life of the assembly. It is designed to work at up to 700 bar under severe load and vibration.

Assembly

Fit into a closed groove according to the dimensions on the datasheet, respecting the order and orientation of the three parts as shown on the installation drawing. Clean the housing thoroughly, chamfer and round off sharp edges, and do not drag the parts over cutting edges, threads or keyways. Lubricate the rod with oil before assembly.

Materials

Manufactured with a 75 to 80 Shore A NBR sealing ring, a 75 to 80 Shore A fabric-reinforced NBR extrusion ring and a POM back-up ring. The nitrile of the sealing ring offers high resistance to compression set, and the back-up ring provides the extrusion resistance required by high pressures.
