Rod seal UIP7

Description
The UIP7 is a single-acting, U-shaped hydraulic rod seal, optimised for low friction, with an interference fit on the outer diameter. Its cascading sealing edges are pressure-activated, significantly reducing static and dynamic friction in hydraulic cylinders and improving system efficiency. It is intended for mobile and stationary hydraulics with high demands regarding friction and sliding behaviour, with dimensions conforming to the ISO 5597 standard.
Assembly
Provide an axial clearance in the housing. Chamfer the edges and do not pull the seal over sharp edges during installation so as not to damage the lips. It can normally be snapped into closed grooves, and in restricted access locations a mounting tool may be required. Clean the installation space carefully before fitting.
Advantages
Materials
Made of polyurethane (PU) with a hardness of approximately 93 Shore A, a material with high wear resistance, low compression set and improved temperature resistance. It offers excellent performance against mineral-oil-based hydraulic oils and PAO fluids. Specific compounds are available for the special requirements of the chemical process industry and the food processing industry.

Technical drawing and installation parameters of the UIP7 rod seals
This technical drawing defines the essential dimensions and geometric variables for the correct housing and installation of the UIP7 rod seal, with dimensions conforming to the ISO 5597 standard. It specifies the critical dimensions linked to the data tables, including the seal width (b), the groove width (B), the rod diameter (Ød) and the housing bore diameter (ØD). It also details the maximum edge radii (R ≤ 0.2) and the extrusion gap (e), and provides for axial clearance in the housing. These values allow press fitting in a closed or split groove, prevent damage to the cascading lips during installation and guarantee low, constant friction throughout the service life of the seal.
Three-dimensional view and components of the UIP7 rod seals
This 3D illustration details the basic structure of the UIP7 single-acting rod seal for hydraulic applications. The drawing clearly shows its key elements and features: the polyurethane body with a U-profile optimised for low friction, the asymmetrical sealing lips and the cascading lips, which are activated by pressure. This configuration significantly reduces static and dynamic friction, prevents stick-slip even at low speed and after long standstills under pressure, and improves lubrication thanks to the fluid reservoir in the dynamic contact area.
