Rod seal HRO2

Description

The HRO2 is a double-acting, low-friction rod seal, made up of a PTFE sliding seal ring and an elastomer O-Ring that energizes it. The interference fit together with the O-Ring squeeze ensures good sealing even at low pressure, and as pressure rises the O-Ring is energized by the fluid itself, pushing the ring against the rod with greater force. It is ideal for reciprocating hydraulic applications, at both high and low pressure, and fits grooves to ISO 7425-2.

Assembly

Closed-groove housing to ISO 7425-2. Clean and chamfer the lead-in edges, without burrs or sharp edges. Lubricate the seal and the surfaces. Fit the O-Ring and the PTFE ring without damaging or twisting them. Check correct seating before commissioning. For sudden changes of pressure and direction, it is available with radial notches that speed up the energizing of the ring.

Materials

The seal ring is made of PTFE (with suitable fillers depending on the application) and is energized by an NBR or FKM O-Ring of 70 Shore A. Available combinations: PTFE + NBR and PTFE + FKM. NBR suits mineral oils up to +100 °C, while FKM offers higher chemical and thermal resistance up to +200 °C. Suitable for mineral oils, flame-retardant fluids, phosphate esters, bio-oils and low-lubricity fluids depending on material selection.
