Piston seal JP5

Description
The JP5 is a double-acting compact piston seal made up of five parts. A central NBR elastomer sealing ring, two back-up rings on both sides that prevent extrusion and two split guide rings that absorb transverse forces. This assembly brings sealing and piston guidance together in a single groove, with low friction and stable static and dynamic behaviour.
Assembly
Installation is carried out in a closed groove on a one-piece piston, made easier by the split-design back-up and guide rings. Chamfer the groove edges and clean the groove before fitting. Use soft tooling without sharp edges and do not drag the seal over sharp edges or threads. Lubricate the seal with the system oil before installation.

Materials
Available in NBR and POM. The central sealing ring is made of 80 Shore A NBR and the back-up and guide rings of POM, a thermoplastic with high mechanical strength and a low friction coefficient. This combination withstands mineral oils to DIN 51524 and HFA, HFB and HFC fire-resistant fluids, and keeps the dimensional stability of the assembly under pressure and side loads.

This technical diagram defines the dimensions and geometric variables that are essential for the correct selection and installation of the JP5 piston seal, a double-acting compact assembly made up of five parts that brings sealing and piston guidance together in a single groove.
