Piston seal UOP

Description

The UOP is a one-piece single-acting piston seal made of polyurethane. Its U-profile has a shorter outer lip than inner lip, so that the fluid pressure pushes the long lip against the groove bottom and the short lip against the cylinder wall. This design achieves high static and dynamic sealing performance with a very thin oil film and allows a simple groove geometry.

Assembly

Installation is carried out in an open groove or, within the minimum diameters given in the table, in a closed groove. For values outside that table use split grooves or special installation tools. Chamfer the groove edges and clean the groove before fitting. Use soft tooling without sharp edges and do not drag the seal over sharp edges or threads. Lubricate the seal with the system oil before installation.

Materials

Available in polyurethane, PU. It is made of 90 and 95 Shore A polyurethane, a material with high mechanical, abrasion and extrusion resistance, which allows operation at high pressures without a back-up ring. It withstands mineral oils to DIN 51524 and HFA, HFB and HFC fire-resistant fluids, and keeps the dimensional stability of the profile under pressure and side loads.
