This dimensioned drawing defines the Aranlock washer without cover by means of two views. In the side view, with the washer already fitted onto the shaft, you will find S, the sheet thickness, d, the diameter of the shaft it is fitted onto, and H, the overall height the assembly reaches once the washer is in place. In the front view you will see D, the outside diameter of the washer, d1, the gripping bore diameter formed by the resilient teeth, and R, the radius. All dimensions are given in millimetres. The tolerances that apply to D and to H are shown in the heading of the dimension table.
Please note that d1 is not a single dimension but a range, for example 1.50 ÷ 1.65 mm. It is the gripping range of the resilient teeth at rest, always between three and seven tenths of a millimetre below the shaft diameter. When the shaft is inserted, the teeth deflect and lock onto it, and it is that interference that provides the retention. You should not therefore read d1 as a manufacturing tolerance, nor machine the shaft to that size, as the shaft is made to its nominal diameter d.
