Spiral retaining rings, also known as spiral rings, are axial fastening elements designed to fit into machined grooves on shafts or in housings in order to retain components and prevent axial movement. Unlike conventional circlips (DIN 471 or DIN 472 types), spiral retaining rings have no ends with assembly holes, they are formed from a flat strip wound helically that fits the groove perfectly.They can be manufactured as single-turn or multi-turn rings, which increases their load capacity and stability. They are normally produced in carbon spring steel, stainless steel or special materials for applications requiring resistance to corrosion or extreme temperatures.
