This 3D illustration shows you the basic structure of the RE axial seal. You can clearly identify its elements, the metal case, which forms the seat of the seal, and the elastomer body moulded onto it, from which the sealing lip arises to bear against the counterface. The metal case gives the assembly its rigidity, protects the elastomer element against mechanical damage and allows simple installation without the need for additional axial retaining components, while the lip maintains sealing performance against dust, dirt, splash water and other external contaminants, with low sensitivity to shaft eccentricity and runout.
