Axial seals RE1

Description
The RE1 axial seal is an axial shaft seal consisting of an extended metal case and a moulded elastomer sealing element. Compared to the RE type, it features a longer metal seat, providing enhanced protection against dust, dirt, grease, oil and water splashes in both dynamic and static applications.
Assembly
Install the seal carefully to avoid any damage to the sealing lip. It is recommended to chamfer and deburr all lead-in surfaces, lightly lubricate the elastomer sealing element before installation, and avoid hammering the seal into place to ensure proper sealing performance and maximum service life.
Advantages
Materials
Available in NBR and FKM compounds with hardnesses ranging from 70 to 80 Shore A, incorporating a coated carbon steel metal case; alternatively, it can be supplied with metallic components manufactured from AISI 304 or AISI 316 stainless steel. Hardness values depend on the selected elastomer compound and the specific application requirements. Additional elastomers such as EPDM, VMQ (silicone) and other materials can also be manufactured upon request.

Technical drawing and installation parameters of the RE1 axial seals
This technical drawing defines the dimensions and geometric variables essential for the correct selection and installation of the RE1 axial seal, a two-piece axial shaft seal consisting of an extended metal case and a moulded elastomer sealing element. It shows the critical dimensions linked to the specification tables, such as the inside diameter (Ød), which determines the fit on the shaft, the outside diameter of the metal case (ØD) and the overall height of the seal (H), which sets the axial space required in the housing. Observing these dimensions ensures a firm seat on the shaft, installation without deformation of the metal case and effective protection against dust, dirt, grease, oil and splashes, in both dynamic and static applications.

Three-dimensional view and components of the RE1 axial seals
This 3D illustration shows you the basic structure of the RE1 axial seal. You can clearly identify its elements, the metal case with flange, which forms the extended seat of the seal, and the elastomer body moulded onto it, from which the sealing lip arises to bear against the counterface. The metal case gives the assembly its rigidity, protects the elastomer element against mechanical damage and allows simple installation without the need for additional axial retaining components, while the lip maintains sealing performance against dust, dirt, grease, oil and splashes, with low sensitivity to shaft eccentricity and runout.
