OR-RT is an elastomeric O-ring with a thin PTFE surface film. The core provides elasticity, recovery and contact pressure; the dry, non-stick coating reduces friction and supports safe, damage-free installation.
Clean and deburr the groove and mating surfaces; install OR-RT without sharp tools, twisting or excessive stretching. Do not lubricate unless compatibility is approved. Inspect the coating after assembly and replace the seal if wear, cuts, cracks or leakage are detected.
OR-RT can be manufactured with an NBR (50–90 Shore A), FKM (60–90 Shore A), EPDM (40–90 Shore A) or HNBR (70–90 Shore A) core, always with a PTFE surface film. Final compound and hardness are validated against the fluid, temperature, pressure and groove.
This 3D illustration shows you the basic structure of the PTFE-coated O-ring. You can clearly identify its two components, the elastomer core, which fills the whole cross section, and the thin PTFE surface film that covers it completely. The core provides the elasticity, recovery and contact pressure of a conventional O-ring, while the dry, non-stick coating reduces friction, lowers breakaway torque and sticking, and allows the O-ring to be fitted into tight grooves with less risk of pinching, twisting and tearing.
