Washer DIN 6796

Description
High-load conical spring washer, designed to maintain tightening tension in bolted joints subject to vibration or thermal expansion. Its conical shape allows it to act as a compression spring, compensating for preload losses and preventing screw loosening.
Assembly
For correct assembly of DIN 6796 washers, they must be placed between the screw head (or nut) and the bearing surface, with the concave part facing the element exerting the tightening force. It is important to apply the recommended tightening torque to achieve the appropriate elastic deformation and ensure the spring function, avoiding both overtightening and mounting on uneven surfaces that may compromise its effectiveness.
Materials
DIN 6796 washers are made of various materials such as spring steel (C60 or 51CrV4), A2 or A4 stainless steel, bronze, brass or special alloys depending on the requirement of the application. They are available in a variety of surface finishes—phosphating, zinc plating, blued, zinc-nickel, or oiled—to protect them against corrosion. Ask us about any special needs.

Technical drawing and installation parameters of the DIN 6796 conical spring washers
This technical diagram defines the dimensions and geometric variables that are essential for the correct selection and installation of the DIN 6796 heavy-duty conical spring washer, which works as a compression spring under the bolt head. It shows the critical dimensions linked to the specification tables, such as the thread size of the bolt or nut it accompanies, the inside diameter (D1), the outside diameter (D2), the material thickness (S) and the maximum height of the washer in the free state (H). Complying with these dimensions ensures the intended elastic recovery, compensates the loss of preload caused by settling or thermal expansion and maintains the tightening torque in joints subject to vibration.
